With help of our experts, Solar Impulse has found 1,000 solutions for a faster

At BNP Paribas Fortis, we have made sustainability a priority. That’s why we support so many people and organisations that share our commitment, such as the Solar Impulse Foundation. With the help of our experts, the Foundation has identified no fewer than 1,000 sustainable solutions to help accelerate energy transition.

The Solar Impulse Foundation has just reached an important milestone. Four years ago, it announced that it was looking for 1,000 sustainable solutions to accelerate energy transition around the world. That target has just been hit – the Foundation reached 1,000 solutions on 13 April 2021 – but it’s making such good progress that it will not be stopping there.

The solutions are (or will be) available in the market, are financially profitable and technologically feasible, but don’t yet have the visibility they deserve.

Helping our business customers with their energy transition

Two of the Foundation’s 300 expert advisors work for BNP Paribas Fortis. Gunter Brems (Sustainability Expert Housing & Sourcing Services) and Quentin Nerincx (Senior Advisor Cleantech) are among the top 20 contributors to the Solar Impulse Foundation.

“It’s an interesting project for me as a sustainability advisor at BNP Paribas Fortis, because it allows me to keep abreast of new solutions being developed all over the world,” explains Quentin Nerincx. “So I’m constantly developing my expertise, which makes me better able to advise business clients looking for energy transition solutions.”

Guiding the public authorities

The full set of more than 1,000 approved solutions is available on the Solar Impulse Foundation website. This summer, the Foundation will also publish a guide to help public authorities, companies and individuals to find and implement practical solutions on a large scale. Anyone using the guide will be able to find solutions to problems encountered in specific geographical, industrial or financial environments in just three clicks.

The Foundation will also produce a report for public authorities, governments and companies to help them achieve their climate goals using the solutions, in accordance with the Paris Agreement on climate change.

“Seeing heads of government and other decision-makers using the solutions we have found will be the icing on the cake,” says Quentin Nerincx.
