BNP Paribas Fortis profiles itself on foursquare® and donates free meals

Already present on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, BNP Paribas Fortis has now signed up on foursquare® and listed all of its 950 retail bank branches, 38 private banking centres and 2 wealth management centres in addition to 20 office buildings on the geographical location based social network.

Users share their location with friends by checking in via a mobile phone and can inform their online community of friends what’s going on there, what they think of it, etc. They can collect virtual socio-emotional rewards called ‘badges’ each time they check in.  Users who have checked in the most times at a certain venue are crowned ‘mayor’ until someone surpasses their number.

To kick off its foursquare® check-in service with a flourish, BNP Paribas Fortis is launching, in tandem with BNP Paribas Fortis Foundation, an action in support of Belgium’s food banks – the latter collect  excess food for distribution, mostly through non-profits. From 17 September until 17 October, for every time a user checks in at one of the BNP Paribas Fortis locations officially listed on foursquare®, the Foundation will provide a meal via the food banks, up to 5,000 meals. In this way, BNP Paribas Fortis will be demonstrating once again its social commitment.

BNP Paribas Fortis’ presence on foursquare® will provide its online community with an opportunity to share in real time their views and impressions on branches and banking services and to inform all their friends and acquaintances about the bank’s various initiatives and any special offers.
