We love cinema – and young talent

At BNP Paribas Fortis, we love cinema. That’s why we are a partner of the Ensors – and of a brand-new award for ‘Promise of the Year’. Because we’re very much in favour of young talent, too.

On 23 January, the Flemish film world awarded its annual Ensors: the Flemish - and somewhat more modest - counterpart of the Oscars. Our bank, one of the leading partners of the seventh art in Belgium, is a loyal partner of the annual film awards.

Partner of The Ensors and the Ostend Film Festival

Traditionally, the award ceremony includes  a stylish gala evening that closes the Ostend Film Festival - which our bank also sponsors. Not this year, of course.

But as a great alternative, the winners of the Ensors 2021 will receive their coveted little statues during a live television show on Saturday, 23 January, on Canvas.

And the winner is…

So not as grand as the Oscars, but creating just as much tension, the following main award winners were named:

  • Ensor for best film: De Patrick
  • Ensor for best actress: Maaike Neuville
  • Ensor for best actor: Kevin Janssens

The complete list of the award winners is available on the website of The Ensors.

Committed to growth…

… is one of the promises that we make our customers. Including young people just starting out in the film world. As a bank, we believe in young talent: it is invaluable and the creative driving force for our future.

We turn the spotlight on young talent with the ‘Ensor Promise of the Year presented by BNP Paribas Fortis’. The video below introduces the highly promising director/scriptwriter Anthony Nti. He has already won awards at the film festivals of Leuven and Ghent with his short film ‘Da Yie’  and now he has even been included on the longlist for the Oscar nominations 2021.

Definitely someone to keep an eye on. More information about Anthony Nti can be found on these Cinevox pages, proof as well that BNP Paribas Fortis has been offering the young filmmaker a platform together with Cinevox ever since 2015.

Because for us, giving the filmmakers of tomorrow a boost so that they can carry out their projects is positive banking, too. #WeLoveCinema
