Wannes, Advisor at Bank for Entrepreneurs

Thanks to the support of my manager and an internal traineeship, I was able to choose the job that I like and that allows me to expand my knowledge.

I'm an advisor with the Bank for Entrepreneurs. My clients are self-employed people and entrepreneurs.

I started work with BNP Paribas Fortis as a commercial advisor. I soon wanted to progress because I felt like I'd got to know the job. I talked to my manager about it and he offered me an internal traineeship. I followed a personalised path in different entities. This enabled me to discover the wide range of products and services that the bank offers and to quickly acquire new skills while developing my network. At the end of this programme, I was able to choose to join the Bank for Entrepreneurs, where I thrive in my new job.

PING-PONG INTERVIEW

Junior or senior?
Senior. It's important to be surrounded by people who you can rely on and learn a lot from, and thus grow to become senior over time.

Actor or observer?
Actor. I'm a person of action. I like to keep things moving and I like to play a role in these changes.

Speaker or listener?
Listen first. I like to listen before sharing my opinion or point of view.

Responsible or sustainable?
Sustainable, because for me, responsibility is part of a sustainable solution.

Formal or informal?
Formal in terms of clothing. But in interactions with customers and colleagues, my style is rather informal.

Your biggest wish?
I think we need to continue our sustainability efforts, as a bank. We're already doing so, but in my view we need to go even further. It's important to continue to have meaning for our customers and for the economy and society as a whole.
