Héloïse Mas: “I want to convey all the emotions of classical music”

The fifth laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2018, Héloïse Mas is first and foremost a music lover with a taste for sharing. With her “Anachronistic Hearts” project, she wants to prove that classical music can be for everyone. A noble cause that our bank is obviously delighted to support.

It is with considerable emotion that Héloïse Mas recalls her 5th place at the Queen Elisabeth Competition. “I have very personal memories of it,” she says. “2018 was a pivotal year for me because my voice had just reached a new level and I was then faced with a dilemma: to go to the competition with my usual repertoire or build a new one, only six months before the competition, but one which I could then pursue.”

Non-stop singing

The latter choice proved to be a winning one for Héloïse Mas, who saw her career take off. The victory was followed by a series of unforgettable private concerts organised by BNP Paribas Fortis. “BNP Paribas Fortis had invited a very mixed audience, not necessarily familiar with the genre,” Héloïse recalls. “However, everyone was extremely kind and welcomed the music in the most beautiful way. We would have liked this tour to never end!”

A taste for sharing

A true enthusiast, Héloïse lives for her art and now wants to share her passion with as many people as possible. “Classical music still suffers from certain clichés,” she says regretfully. “I want to prove to everyone that it is in fact very contemporary and that there are no prerequisites to appreciate it. All you have to do is open your heart and let yourself go.”

A new concept for a wider audience

With her new project, Héloïse Mas wants to go one step further and reach a new and younger audience. “Anachronistic Hearts is more than a CD,” she explains. “We thought of this project as something totally new. The music is there to tell a story and convey the emotions of the characters.”

A world you can already discover in the first episode of “Anachronistic Hearts”..

As a long-standing partner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition — 30 years this year — our bank is delighted to support passionate artists like Héloïse Mas. Making music of all kinds accessible to everyone is also Positive Banking.
