Christine, Legal Manager

Inclusion and diversity are two values that I appreciate at BNP Paribas Fortis. The culture of open communication encourages discussion and interaction.

I'm a mother of two teenagers and I work as a Legal Manager at BNP Paribas Fortis. I first developed my legal and technical expertise in different fields and in different teams. And for the past three years, I've been in charge of a team of lawyers. Being a woman and a mother has in no way been an obstacle to being able to take on more responsibility at a given point in my career.

What I particularly like is the fact that I do not work alone. I'm obviously in touch with all my legal colleagues, but also with the various occupations and departments within the bank at very different levels. It gives me very good knowledge of the organisation and an overview of how it works.

Leader or 'learner'?
In my role, being a leader is key. As is continuing to learn. So both at once.

Junior or senior?
Junior and senior. That is diversity.

Thinking or acting?
Both. I’m in a role where you think a lot. But it's very important at certain points to stop thinking and to act.

Speaker or listener?
I'd say listener. The most important thing is first of all to listen to your customer.

Your biggest wish?
We're already very active in the field of innovation and diversity, but I think we could invest even more in recruiting people from creative backgrounds.
